In several papers in the UK today there is the story of a man dressed in the style of Humphrey Bogart, wearing a smart suit and fedora and carrying a gun, holding up a jewellers in Paris, France. The daylight robber got away with about ten million dollars worth of diamonds and other gems. He was described as about fifty years old, distinguished and had a cultured voice. The raid on Chopard the jewellers, whose customers include Penelope Cruz and Kate Winslet was the latest in a series of raids that have netted up to £200M since they began in 2003. A gang known as 'The Pink Panthers' are believed to be responsible.
