Hi and thanks for the welcome. Has anyone come accross Lawrence Block? He dosn't seem all that well known here in UK, but I gather quite well known in USA. The one I'm especialy mentioning here is "The burlar who thought he was Bogart". Block writes several series of books featuturing differing characters. In my opinion, the best - and most relevant on Bogieboard- is the character Bernie, who is a burglar in New York. In the "Bogart" book, he meets via his bookshop, a fellow Bogart fan, and they spend most of the book going to a film season of obscure Bogart films. Also recomended is "Burglar in the Library", where he is attempting to steal a first edition of "The big sleep", signed by Chandler, dedicated to Hammett. They are very entertaining, gripping and funny. Bernie despite his criminality, is a very sympathetic character, and is a Bogart and Noir fan. Messages In This Thread
